PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Moscone Convention Center is a large convention facility capable of supporting multiple, simultaneous conventions and a significant number of concurrent presentations, meetings, and dining activities for a total transient population of 20,000 attendees.
ACSI received national recognition for its unique design of a Personal Emergency Reporting System (PERS) for this facility. These multi-faceted safety systems were designed to meet the requirements of special codes developed with the assistance of ACSI by the San Francisco Board of Engineering Examiners. The systems provided for immediate detailed reporting of fire, security, and medical emergencies using special reporting stations.

ACSI's RESPONSIBILITIES:
ACSI provided a full complement of program planning, design, and construction administration services for the various life safety, communications, and media systems for the Convention Center. ACSI’s media and telecommunications systems designs were based on a thorough analysis of the anticipated number and size of exhibits, news media requirements, convention sizes and types, internal administrative requirements, and data communications requirements. ACSI developed detailed specifications for each system. Some contract awards were made using ACSI’s technical and economic analysis, which was developed to assist the City in its choice of the most responsive suppliers. This analysis included life-cycle costing, discounted cash flow, and present value analysis. |
