Goose Creek Correctional Center
Point Mackenzie, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, AK

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Alaska Department of Corrections entered into an agreement with Matanuska-Susitna Borough to lease/purchase a prison for a $240M 1,536 bed medium-security prison for long term male felony offenders to be contructed on a 330-acre tract. The prison doubled the available beds in the Alaska Department of Corrections in-state system. The prison included 450,000 sq. ft. of buildings in a 150-acre cleared compound.
The project approach started with pre-qualification of three design-build teams. Pre-qualification was followed by a competitive proposal process. One team was selected based on a “best value” approach. The successful design-build team began design work immediately using a “fast track” approach.
ACSI's RESPONSIBILITIES:
As part of the project management team, ACSI assisted in the development and preparation of a design-build systems criteria and RFP. ACSI also helped pre-qualify design-build teams through the design competition that resulted in a design-build team selection. Thereafter, ACSI managed the integration and installation of 180 IP networked cameras and PLC door control system.
