Mark O. Hatfield US Courthouse
Portland, OR
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project consisted of the programming, conceptual planning and design for a new Federal Courthouse in Portland, Oregon. This downtown high-rise facility was designed to contain sixteen district courtrooms, seven magistrates’ courtrooms, associated support spaces (judges’ chambers, court clerks’ offices, grand jury, law library, probation offices, and U.S. Marshall’s office), as well as accommodate “backfill” agencies which will remain until the year 2020 when the final six courtrooms are scheduled for construction. ACSI's RESPONSIBILITIES: As a part of the project design team, ACSI was responsible for programming, planning and designing all facility low-voltage systems, including those for life safety, security and communications. In addition, ACSI was a key member of the team responsible for planning and coordinating physical and systems security for the building. With the objective of achieving practical state-of-the-art results, ACSI’s systems-related work encompassed the facility fire alarm, perimeter security, card access, entry screening, CCTV surveillance, inmate security, telephone, data communications, electronic court reporting, simultaneous translation, courtroom sound reinforcement and audio/visual systems.
