Florida Botanical Gardens Pinewood Cultural Park

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Pinewood Cultural Park in Largo, Florida is a major public entertainment attraction in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. Encompassing over 180 acres, the project contained the new Florida Botanical Gardens, the Gulf Coast Museum of Art, Heritage Village, the Cooperative Extension Service and Ridgecrest Park. This project was developed and funded by Pinellas County as a part of a series of voter-approved public betterment projects. The Botanical Gardens forms a prominent part of the Park with separate Shade, Palm, Wedding and Tropical gardens in the east area and Trial and Research gardens to the north. The construction value of the entire facility was estimated to be in excess of $35M.
ACSI's RESPONSIBILITIES:
ACSI was engaged by the County to develop a master plan for park security. Services included surveying the project local conditions, other similar public and private facilities locally and nationwide, and local public safety officials to identify the expected security risks associated with the Park and its planned operations. From this information a set of probable security risks was developed, assessed and means of mitigating these risks prepared. Recommended security measures included physical design features for the overall park and its several major elements, proposed administrative policies and security staff development augmented with various electronic security and communications systems.
